Backgrounds - grassfields

To help create the backgrounds for my short, I thought I should create them with a bit of a strategy. I have calculated that there is 93 shots! That’s a lot of drawings! With this in mind, I have opted to created several textures of grass fields, separate trees, groups of trees and rocks and boulders.

This will allow me to create backgrounds quickly and any other bits of polish can be added on top. Below are some grass backgrounds I have made that will be blended, flipped and trimmed into making the background grass. I have also included a hill test where I have cropped one of the textures with a hill alpha. To add depth into the hill I have also added a gradient on a multiply overlay which I like the look of.

Next I want to draw some separate trees.
