Chris’ compendium of creatures

Whilst half awake in my bed I had a brainwave. In my short animation Camaraderie, one of my characters uses her monster bestiary to find out how to defeat the Mire Monster that her and her friends face.

Back in my uni days I loved filling out a sketchbook. It was something that I took a bit too seriously when I should of focussed on other things. It did mean that I researched and created a lot of ideas. In one of my projects I created photo montage of various different mythological beasts which are below.

Back to my brainwave, I thought I could use these monster as a starting point for the other mire monsters in the book. They would appear briefly in the tome but having them inside the tome will make my world feel a lot more alive.

In the redesigns, I will be making these mythological creatures have the: catfish, shrimp, crab, squid, whale and sea worm characteristics I liked on my We are the Mire! post.
